On April 13-16, 2008 a record number of attendees (1,417) “stepped up to the challenge” at the 80th annual CWEA conference in Sacramento. At the conference CWEA continued the tradition of providing a forum for professionals to team, plan, learn, train, and certify so that they can effectively carry out their mission to protect the public health and environment.
This year’s conference offered informative pre-conference workshops, interesting technical sessions, and interactive facility tours. The opening general session sparked stimulating conversation through the diverse perspectives on the challenges the industry faces presented by the regulatory, political and environmental communities. The technical tracts provided topic specific solutions and lessons learned. The Ops Challenge demonstrated the energy and teamwork required.
The awards luncheon showcased successful individuals, programs, and facilities from across the state. And finally committees, staff, and directors met to plan for continued excellence. So let’s follow their lead and start preparing to “Train to Succeed” April 28 to May 1, 2009 in Palm Springs! Abstracts are due August 8, 2008 go to www.cwea.org/conferences for details.
