Seven western states have signed an agreement to conserve and share dwindling Colorado River water. The local Metropolitan Water District receives about 30% of its water from the Colorado. Money quote:
“We see the future and it’s not looking all that pretty. I don’t know if we will ever get back to the way we were just as short ago as 2000. Both major reservoirs – Mead and Powell – are below 50% for the first time ever,” said Jeffrey Kightlinger, General Manager of MWD in an NPR interview.
